Hostinger Forex VPS (2026): MT4/MT5

Short answer: Yes, you can run MT4/MT5 on a Hostinger VPS — but there is a catch you should know before you buy. Hostinger’s VPS plans run Linux, while MetaTrader is Windows software, so you will need Wine or your own Windows setup to make it work. If you want a terminal that just works out of the box, a dedicated forex VPS with Windows pre-installed is honestly the better buy — but if you are comfortable with a little setup, Hostinger’s VPS is cheaper and gives you full root control.

Why forex traders use a VPS at all

If you run Expert Advisors (EAs) or any kind of automated strategy, your trading platform needs to be online and connected to your broker around the clock — including when your laptop is closed, your home internet drops, or Windows decides it is update o’clock. A VPS is simply a computer in a data center that never sleeps: your MT4 or MT5 terminal runs there 24/7, executing your strategy even while you are asleep.

The second reason is latency. Every order you send travels from your terminal to your broker’s server, and the physical distance between the two adds delay. A VPS in a data center near your broker’s trade server shaves that delay down to a few milliseconds. For scalpers and high-frequency EAs, that difference can matter; for swing traders holding positions for days, it barely registers. Know which one you are before you optimize for it.

The honest framing: a VPS does not make a bad strategy profitable. It removes two specific failure modes — downtime and distance. If your EA loses money on a backtest, no VPS will fix that.

The caveat: Hostinger VPS runs Linux, MetaTrader is Windows software

This is the single most important thing on this page, so let us be blunt: Hostinger’s VPS lineup ships with Linux templates (Ubuntu and similar) and full root access. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are native Windows applications. There is no “install MT4” button in the Hostinger panel, and Hostinger does not offer a Windows VPS template. That does not make it impossible — it makes it a small project instead of a purchase.

You have three practical paths:

Option 1: Run MT4/MT5 under Wine on Ubuntu (cheapest)

Wine is a compatibility layer that runs Windows programs on Linux, and MT4/MT5 are among the Windows applications it handles best — thousands of traders run exactly this setup. You install Wine on your Ubuntu VPS, download the MT4/MT5 installer from your broker, run it through Wine, and connect to your broker’s server as normal. It costs nothing extra and keeps you on Hostinger’s cheapest plans. The trade-off is fiddliness: occasional graphical quirks, and you are your own support desk when something behaves oddly. Our companion guide walks through the whole setup: MT4/MT5 on Hostinger VPS.

Option 2: Install Windows on the VPS yourself

Because you get full root access and KVM virtualization, you can install a Windows Server ISO on the VPS yourself — but you need your own valid Windows license, and the install is on you. This gives you a genuine Windows environment where MT4/MT5 run natively, but the license cost usually wipes out the price advantage over a dedicated forex VPS. Only worth it if you already hold a license or need Windows for other reasons too.

Option 3: Skip the project — buy a dedicated forex VPS

Dedicated forex VPS providers sell you a Windows server with MT4/MT5 pre-installed, sitting in a data center next to the big liquidity providers, for a monthly fee. You log in, add your broker credentials, and trade. No Wine, no ISOs, no terminal commands. You pay more per month than a Hostinger KVM plan, and you get less raw power — but you get zero setup and an environment built for exactly one job. We compare the full field in our best VPS for trading guide.

Latency: pick the data center closest to your broker

Whatever path you choose, the highest-use decision is geography. Ask your broker where their trade servers live (most will tell you — common answers are London, New York, and Amsterdam), then pick the nearest Hostinger data center at setup. As of our September 2026 check, Hostinger’s locations include the USA (Phoenix, Boston, Asheville), the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Germany (Frankfurt), Lithuania, India (Mumbai), Brazil, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

A London-based broker pairs naturally with the UK data center; a New York broker with Phoenix or Boston. One caution from our data-center research: many older articles still list Singapore as a Hostinger location, but it is not on Hostinger’s current official list — Indonesia and Malaysia are the Southeast Asia options now. Do not plan your latency strategy around a location that no longer exists; our full data-center list is kept current.

Realistic expectations: a well-placed VPS gets you into the low tens of milliseconds to your broker. That is excellent for retail trading and more than enough for any EA that is not doing true high-frequency arbitrage — and if you are doing that, you already know a retail VPS is not your infrastructure.

Which Hostinger VPS plan is right for trading?

Here is the good news: MetaTrader is famously light. A single MT4 terminal idles on a few hundred megabytes of RAM, and even a busy EA rarely stresses a modern vCPU. That means most traders are oversold on specs they will never use. As a rule of thumb:

  • 1–3 MT4/MT5 terminals, light EAs: the entry-level KVM plan is plenty. This covers the overwhelming majority of retail traders.
  • 4–8 terminals, or heavy optimization/backtesting: step up one tier for the extra RAM and CPU headroom. Backtesting is the hungriest thing you will do — it is the only common trading workload that justifies more cores.
  • 10+ terminals or multiple strategies with tick data: consider a larger plan, or honestly reconsider whether a general-purpose VPS is still the right tool versus a dedicated trading setup.

The deal box at the top shows the current entry-plan pricing — and remember the 20% off your first purchase through our referral link, which applies in the cart automatically. VPS plans bill cheapest on the longest term, so if you are committing to a year of automated trading, the longer billing cycle is the cheaper way to do it.

Notice what this table does not say: it does not say one is “better.” A dedicated forex VPS is a toaster — it does one thing with no thought required. A Hostinger VPS is a kitchen — cheaper per unit of power, but you are cooking. Buy the toaster if you only want toast.

Who should (and shouldn’t) trade on a Hostinger VPS

Good fit: you are comfortable with basic Linux or happy to follow a setup guide; you run EAs and want 24/7 uptime cheaply; you would like the same server to also host a website, a bot, or a dashboard; your broker’s servers are near one of Hostinger’s data centers.

Poor fit: you want MT4 running in the next ten minutes with no command line; you need guaranteed sub-5ms latency to a specific liquidity provider; your strategy depends on Windows-only tools beyond MT4/MT5 themselves; you would rather pay a premium than troubleshoot Wine quirks at midnight.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Hostinger VPS plans run Linux, so you install MT4 via Wine on Ubuntu (free, most popular) or install Windows yourself with your own license. The step-by-step is in our MT4/MT5 setup guide.

No — Hostinger’s VPS templates are Linux-based. You get full root access, so you can install Windows yourself with your own license, but there is no one-click Windows option. If you need Windows out of the box, a dedicated forex VPS is the simpler buy.

It depends entirely on distance: pick the Hostinger data center nearest your broker’s trade server (ask your broker where it is). A well-placed VPS typically reaches the low tens of milliseconds — excellent for retail EAs, scalping included.

The entry-level KVM plan handles 1–3 MT4/MT5 terminals with light EAs comfortably — MetaTrader is a light application. Step up a tier if you run many terminals or do heavy backtesting, which is the only common trading task that actually needs more CPU.

Neither is universally better. Hostinger is cheaper and gives you full root control for other projects, but needs setup (Wine or Windows). A dedicated forex VPS costs more per month but arrives with Windows and MT4 pre-installed. Choose based on whether you value your time or your money more right now.

Yes — that is exactly what a VPS is for. Your terminal stays online in the data center whether your own computer is on or not, which is the whole point of putting automated strategies on a server.
