Hostinger Free Trial (2026): Is Hostinger Free?

Short answer: Hostinger offers no free trial and no free hosting tier, every plan is paid from day one. But the 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting plans functions as a risk-free trial: buy, build the real site, and cancel within 30 days for a refund if it is not for you. Here is exactly what that covers, what it excludes, and how to use it honestly.

Why there is no free trial (and why that is normal)

Free trials exist to remove risk. Hostinger removes the same risk differently: instead of a time-boxed trial with a crippled feature set, you get the full product for 30 days with your money back if you leave. In practice this is better than most free trials, trials usually block the features you actually want to evaluate (email, backups, real traffic), while a money-back period lets you test everything, including how support treats you as a paying customer.

The coupon-page version of this question, “Hostinger free trial code”, deserves the same honesty as our other coupon guides: no such code exists. Coupon SERPs are owned by affiliates with custom codes from Hostinger’s Affiliate program; we are on Refer & earn, which has no code, just a verified 20% off your first purchase in the cart (checked October 8, 2026). There is no magic code for a free trial either; the guarantee is the trial.

Which term for a trial? If you are testing with a real chance of cancelling, the 12-month term is the smart pick: it carries the lowest total upfront commitment, so the amount at risk during your 30-day evaluation is minimized. Longer terms only make sense once you have decided to stay.
The honest way to “try” Hostinger: buy the cheapest plan that fits your real use case (Premium web hosting for most sites, box above), build the actual site rather than a demo, run it for three weeks, and decide before day 30. That is precisely what the guarantee is for.

What the 30-day guarantee covers

Per Hostinger’s refund policy (checked October 9, 2026), the 30-day money-back guarantee covers new purchases and renewals of:

  • Web hosting (Premium, Unlimited), cloud hosting, and Agency hosting, including plan upgrades
  • KVM VPS and Game Panel hosting (new purchases; note the upgrade exception below)
  • Hostinger Email and Titan Email (Business Email)

The 30-day clock starts on the transaction date, not the day you launch your site. Buy October 1 and day 30 is October 31, even if you only started building on October 20. Request the refund yourself in hPanel; it typically lands within hours to a few days depending on payment method.

What it does NOT cover (read before you buy)

This is the part that determines whether a “free trial” strategy actually works. The following are excluded, no 30-day window:

  • Domain renewals and completed transfers, final the moment they process. New .com/.net/.org registrations get only a 96-hour window, and most country-code domains get none at all.
  • Topped-up AI credits, never refundable. Use included credits first.
  • Google Workspace, Hostinger GPU services, and anything paid with cryptocurrency.
  • Upgrades on KVM VPS and Game Panel plans (web/cloud/agency upgrades are covered, an odd asymmetry, but it is the policy).
The free-domain trap: if your refunded hosting plan included a free domain, Hostinger may deduct the domain’s standard price from your refund, and you keep the domain. The domain was never really “free” if you cancel. If there is any chance you will refund within 30 days, register the domain separately (the $0.01 first-year .com promo exists for exactly this).

How to use the guarantee as a trial, step by step

  1. Buy the right-sized plan, longest sensible term. Premium web hosting covers most trial scenarios. The 20% first-purchase referral discount applies in the cart, verified October 8, 2026.
  2. Register the domain separately if you think you might cancel, or accept the domain deduction from any refund.
  3. Build the real thing. Install WordPress, connect your email, push real traffic patterns at it. A trial that never stresses the product teaches nothing.
  4. Set a calendar reminder for day 25. Decide with five days to spare; refund requests inside the window are self-service in hPanel.
  5. If you stay, do nothing. The plan simply continues, no action needed, no trial converting into a surprise charge, because you were a paying customer all along. Consider switching to a longer term at renewal for the lower monthly rate once Hostinger has earned your trust.

Which plan should you actually trial?

A 30-day evaluation is only useful if you test the product you will actually keep. Match the trial to your real use case:

  • Testing web hosting for a site or blog: trial Premium web hosting, it is the plan most readers keep. Compare every plan’s intro and renewal side by side first in our Hostinger pricing guide so you know exactly what the trial converts into.
  • Testing whether Hostinger itself is right for you: read our full Hostinger review before you buy, then use the 30 days to verify the two claims that matter most, that support answers fast at 2am, and that the hPanel workflow suits you.
  • Testing with a sale in mind: if Black Friday is weeks away, check our Black Friday page for the sale window (October 19, December 14, 2026, per Hostinger), trialing now and buying the long term on sale day is a legitimate combined strategy.

Whatever you trial, test it like an owner, not a tourist: install the real site (not a hello-world page), push genuine traffic at it, open a 2am support chat with a real question, send and receive email from the included mailboxes, and run a backup-and-restore once. A trial that never stresses the product teaches nothing, and all of it fits inside the 30-day window with days to spare for the refund decision.

Day-25 rule: put a calendar reminder on day 25 of the 30-day window. Decide with five days to spare, while the refund is still self-service in hPanel, not on day 31, when it is a support ticket.

FAQ

No, there is no free trial and no free tier. The 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting plans is the risk-free way to evaluate the full product: buy, test for up to 30 days, refund if it is not for you.

No code exists for a free trial. Any site listing one is publishing an invented string. The guarantee needs no code, it applies automatically to eligible purchases.

If the hosting plan included a free domain, its standard price may be deducted from your refund and you keep the domain. Separately registered domains follow their own rules: 96 hours for new .com registrations, and renewals are never refundable.

Yes, unusually, Hostinger’s guarantee covers renewals as well as new purchases for eligible hosting and email products. The 30-day clock starts on each transaction date.

The refund process, click by click

Knowing the guarantee exists is different from knowing how to use it under time pressure on day 29. Here is the actual process in hPanel:

  1. Navigate to billing. In hPanel, go to the billing or subscriptions section and find the plan you want to refund.
  2. Initiate cancellation. Select the cancel or refund option for the eligible product. The system shows whether the purchase falls within the 30-day window before you confirm.
  3. Confirm the reason. Hostinger asks why you are leaving. Answer honestly; this does not affect your eligibility within the window.
  4. Check the refund amount. Before final confirmation, verify the amount. If the plan included a free domain, the domain's standard price may be deducted. This is the moment to catch surprises, not after.
  5. Wait for processing. Refunds typically land within hours for some payment methods and up to several business days for others. Credit cards are usually fastest; bank transfers slowest.

Do this on day 25, not day 30. Payment processing delays, timezone differences in the transaction timestamp, and simple procrastination have all pushed people past the window. The five-day buffer costs nothing.

What happens to your site and data after a refund

This is the part nobody explains until it is too late. When you refund a hosting plan:

  • Your website goes offline. The hosting service is terminated. If the domain was registered separately and its DNS pointed to Hostinger, the domain itself survives but resolves to nothing until you point it elsewhere.
  • Your files are deleted on a schedule. Hostinger does not keep your site files indefinitely after cancellation. Download a full backup (files + database) before initiating the refund, not after.
  • Email stops working. Any mailboxes on the refunded plan stop receiving mail. If you used a Hostinger email address for important accounts, migrate first.
  • The domain question. If the plan included a free domain and Hostinger deducts its price from your refund, you keep the domain registered in your name. If you registered the domain separately, it is entirely unaffected by the hosting refund.

The safe sequence: backup everything, migrate anything you want to keep (domain DNS, email), then request the refund. Reversing this order is how people lose data.

Chargebacks: the nuclear option you should never use here

When a refund is denied (outside the window, excluded product), some buyers consider a credit card chargeback. Do not do this for Hostinger except in genuine fraud cases. Here is why:

  • It burns the account. A chargeback typically results in immediate account termination, including any domains registered under it. You lose everything, not just the disputed charge.
  • It is slower than the guarantee. Chargebacks take 30-90 days to resolve. The 30-day guarantee, used properly, resolves in days.
  • It poisons future purchases. Payment processors flag accounts with chargeback history. If you ever want to buy hosting again, anywhere, a chargeback on your record makes it harder.

The guarantee is generous and self-service. Use it within the window and you will never need the nuclear option.

Timing strategies: when to buy for maximum protection

The 30-day window is fixed, but when you start it matters:

  • Buy when you can actually build. Starting the clock during a two-week vacation wastes half your evaluation period. Buy on a weekend when you have time to set things up properly.
  • Black Friday interplay. If the sale (October 19 to December 14, 2026, per Hostinger) is approaching, you can trial now on a 12-month term and buy the long term during the sale. But do not buy a 48-month term as a trial. The refund returns your money, but you have needlessly locked up capital.
  • Renewal evaluations. The guarantee covers renewals too, which most hosts do not offer. If your renewal price shocks you, you have 30 days from the renewal transaction to cancel and move elsewhere. Set a calendar reminder for every renewal date.
  • Stagger multi-product trials. If evaluating hosting, email, and a VPS, do not start all three clocks on the same day unless you can genuinely evaluate all three in parallel. Stagger by a week so each product gets proper attention.
