Short answer: Hostinger Cloud Startup and the Unlimited plan (formerly Business) target different needs. Cloud Startup gives you dedicated resources — 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe reserved for your sites alone — while Unlimited is premium shared hosting where you share a server with other users. Choose Cloud when your sites have outgrown shared hosting or traffic spikes hurt; choose Unlimited when you run several normal WordPress sites and want the best value per site.

A quick naming note: Hostinger renamed the “Business” shared plan to “Unlimited” in 2026. Same plan, new name — this page uses “Unlimited (ex-Business)” where the old name helps.

What “dedicated resources” actually means

On Unlimited (shared hosting), your sites live on a server with other customers’ sites. Hostinger isolates accounts well — this is not the oversold shared hosting of 2010 — but the CPU and RAM are still a shared pool. If a neighbor has a traffic spike, your site can feel it.

On Cloud Startup, the 4 CPU cores and 4 GB of RAM are reserved for you. No neighbor can borrow them. That is the entire reason Cloud exists: consistent performance under load. For a brochure site with 500 visitors a day, you will never notice the difference. For a store doing a product launch, you absolutely will.

When Cloud wins

  • WooCommerce stores with real traffic. Checkout pages are dynamic — they cannot be cached like blog posts, so every visitor costs CPU. Dedicated cores keep checkout fast during sales. See our WooCommerce guide.
  • Traffic spikes. Product launches, viral posts, Black Friday — Cloud absorbs spikes that would throttle a shared account.
  • Agencies hosting client sites. One slow client site on shared hosting can drag down the others on the same account. Dedicated resources isolate every site.
  • Resource-hungry plugins. Page builders, membership plugins, LMS systems, and multilingual plugins all eat CPU. Cloud gives them room.
  • You have outgrown Unlimited. If hPanel shows you hitting resource limits, that is the signal — not a marketing email.

When Unlimited (ex-Business) wins

  • Several normal WordPress sites. Blogs, business sites, portfolios — Unlimited handles 100 of them at a lower price than Cloud Startup.
  • Budget matters more than peak performance. Unlimited is the value king of Hostinger’s lineup: daily backups, staging, 200 GB storage, and a free domain for less than Cloud.
  • You do not want to think about servers. Both plans are fully managed with no root access, but Unlimited is the simpler mental model: it just works.

The renewal math

Both plans follow Hostinger’s standard pricing model: deep intro discount on long terms, renewal at the regular rate. Two things to know before you buy:

  • Cloud renews at a bigger absolute number because it starts from a higher base price. The renewal rate is printed in the card above — read it, not just the intro price.
  • Do not buy Cloud “just in case.” If your sites run fine on Unlimited today, the extra money buys you nothing until traffic grows. Upgrade when monitoring — slow admin panel, resource-limit warnings in hPanel — tells you to.

Our pricing breakdown works the multi-year totals for both plans with renewal rates included.

What about Cloud Professional and Enterprise?

Hostinger sells two bigger cloud tiers above Startup: more CPU, more RAM, more storage. The honest guidance: start with Startup. Upgrading cloud tiers later is straightforward, and almost nobody needs Professional on day one. Buy the bigger tier when Startup’s 4 GB of RAM is consistently full — hPanel’s resource graphs will show you.

Cloud vs VPS: the question behind the question

Some readers comparing Cloud and Unlimited are really wondering whether they need a VPS instead. The dividing line is simple: Cloud is managed hosting with dedicated resources; VPS is your own server with root access. If you want to run Docker, n8n, game servers, or custom software, you need a VPS (see our Cloud vs VPS guide). If you want WordPress sites that stay fast under load without touching a terminal, Cloud is the answer.

Spec by spec: what the numbers actually mean

Marketing tables hide as much as they reveal. Here is what each row means for your sites:

  • 4 CPU cores / 4 GB RAM (Cloud) vs shared pool (Unlimited): the single biggest difference. On Cloud, those resources are fenced off for you; on Unlimited, you draw from a pool sized for typical shared loads. Normal sites never notice. Database-heavy or high-concurrency sites do.
  • 100 GB vs 200 GB storage: Unlimited actually gives you more storage. Cloud trades storage for compute — it assumes your bottleneck is CPU, not disk. For media-heavy sites with modest traffic, Unlimited’s 200 GB is the better fit.
  • 100 websites on both: neither plan limits your ambition on site count. The practical limit is resources per site, which is where Cloud pulls ahead.
  • Daily backups on both: Unlimited includes daily backups (a step up from Premium’s weekly), matching Cloud. Backup parity means this is not a reason to choose Cloud.
  • No root access on either: both are managed hosting. If you need SSH-level control, Docker, or custom software, neither plan qualifies — that is VPS territory.

Migrating between the plans

Moving from Unlimited to Cloud (or back) is an in-place upgrade from hPanel, not a migration project: your files, databases, email, and domains carry over, and Hostinger handles the server-side move. Expect a brief maintenance window, and take a manual backup first out of habit. Downgrading from Cloud to Unlimited is equally supported — useful if you bought Cloud for a launch that ended and want the lower renewal.

If you are moving to Hostinger from another host, both plans include free migration assistance. The migration team moves WordPress sites for you; the plan choice does not change that.

Three real-world scenarios, decided

Scenario 1: a food blog with 30,000 monthly visitors. Mostly cached pages, modest CPU needs. Unlimited handles this comfortably for less money — Cloud’s dedicated cores would sit idle. Winner: Unlimited.

Scenario 2: a WooCommerce store doing $20k/month with weekly promo emails. Every promo blast sends hundreds of simultaneous visitors to uncacheable cart and checkout pages. On shared hosting, checkout slows exactly when it matters most; on Cloud’s dedicated cores, it holds. Winner: Cloud Startup.

Scenario 3: an agency hosting 15 client sites. Fourteen are quiet brochure sites; one is a membership site with 2,000 active users. On Unlimited, the membership site’s load can bleed into the others. On Cloud, every site is insulated. The agency bills clients for hosting anyway, so Cloud’s higher price is passed through while the reliability protects the agency’s reputation. Winner: Cloud Startup.

The fine print: what the comparison tables skip

  • Backups: both plans include automated backups (daily on both Cloud Startup and Unlimited), restorable from hPanel. Neither charges extra for the basics; both offer on-demand backup options.
  • Email: both include email accounts on your domains. Neither is a replacement for Google Workspace if you need serious business email — see our email comparison.
  • Support scope: 24/7 live chat on both, same team. Managed hosting means they fix server problems; they will not debug your custom code on either plan.
  • Uptime guarantee: the same 99.9% guarantee covers both. In practice, Cloud’s isolated resources make it less vulnerable to neighbor-induced slowdowns, which is a reliability advantage the SLA does not capture.

Cloud Startup — pros

  • Dedicated 4 CPU / 4 GB RAM — consistent under load
  • Fully managed, no server admin needed
  • Daily backups and staging included
  • Scales to bigger cloud tiers easily

Cloud Startup — cons

  • Costs more than Unlimited, especially at renewal
  • Overkill for low-traffic sites
  • No root access (that is what VPS is for)

Unlimited (ex-Business) — pros

  • Best value per site in Hostinger’s lineup
  • 200 GB storage, 100 sites, free domain
  • Daily backups and staging included
  • Lower renewal than Cloud

Unlimited (ex-Business) — cons

  • Shared resources — can slow under neighbor load
  • Not ideal for high-traffic WooCommerce
  • No root access

FAQ

Is Hostinger Cloud faster than Unlimited?

Under load, yes — that is the point of dedicated resources. For a low-traffic site, both feel identical because the bottleneck is never the server. Cloud’s advantage appears when traffic rises: pages stay fast instead of queuing behind shared CPU.

Why was Business renamed to Unlimited?

Hostinger renamed the Business shared plan to “Unlimited” in 2026 to reflect its positioning (unlimited-adjacent site and storage allowances). The plan itself — premium shared hosting with daily backups and staging — did not change. Old reviews saying “Business” mean this plan.

Can I upgrade from Unlimited to Cloud later?

Yes, from hPanel. Your sites migrate with the upgrade. This is why starting on Unlimited is safe: the upgrade path is one click, not a rebuild.

Does Cloud Startup include a free domain?

Yes — a free domain for the first year, same as Unlimited. Renewal pricing for the domain is standard after year one; see our domains guide.

Is Cloud good for WooCommerce?

It is Hostinger’s best managed option for WooCommerce short of a VPS. Dedicated CPU keeps dynamic checkout pages fast, and daily backups protect order data. For very large stores, compare with VPS KVM plans too.

Cloud vs VPS — which should I pick?

Pick Cloud if you run websites (WordPress, WooCommerce) and want them fast without server administration. Pick VPS if you need root access for Docker, n8n, game servers, or custom stacks. Our Cloud vs VPS comparison goes deeper.
