The four KVM plans, side by side
Hostinger’s VPS lineup is refreshingly simple: four tiers, each doubling the previous one’s resources. All four run on AMD EPYC processors with NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps network connection. The table below shows the specs we verified on hostinger.com’s VPS page on October 8, 2026 — prices live in the cards further down, never in our prose, so the numbers here can’t go stale.
| Spec | KVM 1 | KVM 2 | KVM 4 | KVM 8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vCPU cores | 1 | 2 | 4 | 8 |
| RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| NVMe storage | 50 GB | 100 GB | 200 GB | 400 GB |
| Bandwidth | 4 TB | 8 TB | 16 TB | 32 TB |
| Backups | Free weekly backups + manual snapshots on all plans | |||
| Root access | Full root access + dedicated IP on all plans | |||
One thing worth flagging: KVM 8 is currently sold — we confirmed it on Hostinger’s VPS page on October 8, 2026 (8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB NVMe, 32 TB bandwidth). Several VPS guides still list KVM 4 as the top tier, which is outdated. We don’t carry KVM 8’s price in our database, so you’ll see its specs here but no price card — check the live price on Hostinger’s page before buying.
Which size for your use case?
RAM is the number to watch on a VPS — it’s the resource that runs out first in almost every real workload below. Here’s how the four tiers map to the four most common reasons people buy a Hostinger VPS.
n8n and workflow automation → KVM 2
n8n is light when you start and hungry as you scale. The practical guide: minimum 1 vCPU with 2 GB of RAM to run it at all, 2 vCPUs with 4 GB for comfortable everyday use, and more of both for heavy workflows with many webhooks. KVM 2 (2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM) covers the comfortable tier with headroom — which is exactly why Hostinger’s own n8n tutorial says KVM 2 “will be more than enough” to get started. Use KVM 1 only for testing; step up to KVM 4 when you run n8n in queue mode with separate workers or process high execution volumes.
Docker apps and side projects → KVM 1 or KVM 2
One or two containers — a personal dashboard, a small API, a database for a side project — run happily on KVM 1. The moment you’re running a small fleet of containers (app + database + reverse proxy + monitoring), KVM 2’s extra RAM earns its keep. Hostinger’s Docker Compose manager gives you visual control over Compose projects, so you don’t have to live in YAML files unless you want to.
Game servers (Minecraft and friends) → KVM 2 to KVM 4
Hostinger explicitly lists game servers — Minecraft and Counter-Strike among them — as a VPS use case. A small private server for friends fits on KVM 2; a busier community server with mods wants KVM 4’s extra cores and RAM. The 1 Gbps network on all plans keeps latency low, which matters more for game feel than raw CPU once you’re past the minimum.
Small SaaS or web app → KVM 2, then KVM 4
Start on KVM 2 — it’s enough for an app finding its first users — and upgrade in a few clicks from hPanel when monitoring says so. KVM 4 suits apps with steady traffic and background workers. KVM 8 enters the picture for genuinely heavy workloads: large game communities, self-hosted AI models like Ollama, or apps doing serious data processing. Don’t buy KVM 8 on day one “for growth”; unused RAM is just rent.
The three plans with live prices
The cards below are live from our price database — intro price, term, and the renewal rate side by side, checked October 8, 2026. (KVM 8 has no card because we don’t track its price; its specs are in the table above.) Read the renewal line on each card: VPS renewals run noticeably higher than intro rates, and the 24-month term is the longest lever you get on VPS.

What you get on every VPS plan
Beyond the four spec rows, every Hostinger VPS includes the same foundation, verified on their VPS page on October 8, 2026:
- Full root access and a dedicated IP address — the machine is yours to configure: OS, control panel, firewall rules, SSH keys, reverse DNS.
- One-click templates — deploy Linux distributions, control panels, and apps in minutes. The n8n template (“Ubuntu 24.04 with n8n”) ships n8n preinstalled in Docker, and there’s a separate template for n8n in queue mode for heavier setups.
- Free weekly backups plus manual snapshots — automatic whole-server backups every week, and snapshots you take yourself before risky changes so you can roll back.
- Security built in — managed firewall, Wanguard DDoS filtering, and an AI-powered firewall on Hostinger’s side of the fence.
- Hostinger Agent — an AI assistant built into the VPS web terminal that runs commands and troubleshoots configs from chat prompts, included free with no separate subscription.
- VPS API and Docker Compose manager — automate deployments and manage Compose projects visually or via API.
- 30-day money-back guarantee — try the server with a real workload and get a refund if it doesn’t fit.
| Time | Total | Real monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | $107.88 | $8.99/mo |
| 2 years | $215.76 | $8.99/mo |
| 4 years | $575.52 | $11.99/mo |
Based on the 24-month plan, paid upfront deal price, then $14.99/mo. Taxes not included.
Self-hosting n8n: the realistic setup
n8n is the reason half our readers land on this page, so here’s the honest version. Deploy the “Ubuntu 24.04 with n8n” template on a KVM 2 and you have n8n running in Docker within minutes — no manual install, no dependency hunting. Hostinger’s own tutorial recommends exactly this size to start. Serve it over HTTPS from day one, protect the owner account with a strong password, and keep the n8n container updated, because self-hosting means security is your job.
The one backup most people skip: your N8N_ENCRYPTION_KEY. n8n encrypts every stored credential with it — lose the key and your credentials are unreadable even if you restore the data volume. Hostinger’s weekly backups cover the whole server, but export your workflows separately too and keep the encryption key somewhere safe off the server. When your execution volume grows, switch to the queue-mode template, which hands work to separate workers — and that’s the point where KVM 4 starts making sense.
Why self-host instead of n8n’s own cloud? Their cloud plans bill by workflow executions; the self-hosted Community Edition has no vendor execution limit — your only cost is the server. If your workflows are growing, the math favors a VPS quickly. How we verify deals explains how we check every number on this page.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Real dedicated resources per tier — what you buy is what you get, no noisy neighbors.
- Full root access, dedicated IP, and one-click templates including n8n and Docker.
- Free weekly backups plus manual snapshots on every plan.
- Modern stack: AMD EPYC, NVMe, 1 Gbps network, built-in AI terminal assistant.
- Our referral link takes a verified 20% off the first purchase in the cart.
Cons
- Self-managed: OS patches, app updates, and security are your responsibility.
- Renewals run noticeably higher than intro rates after the 2-year term.
- No KVM 8 price tracking in our database — check Hostinger’s live price.
- Overkill if you just need WordPress hosting — that’s what shared and cloud plans are for.
Who should buy — and who shouldn’t
Buy if you need the machine: n8n or other long-running processes, Docker containers, game servers, custom software, or a dev environment you fully control. If you can use a terminal — or are willing to learn with Hostinger Agent’s help — a VPS gives you freedom no shared plan can.
Don’t buy if you just need websites hosted. WordPress blogs, business sites, and stores belong on web hosting or cloud hosting, where backups, security, and updates are handled for you. Buying a VPS for a brochure site is paying to become a sysadmin for no reason.
FAQ
KVM 2 for real use — Hostinger’s own n8n tutorial calls it “more than enough” to start, and its 8 GB of RAM covers comfortable everyday workloads with headroom. Use KVM 1 only for testing.
