You can install WordPress on Hostinger in about two minutes with the 1-click Auto Installer: open hPanel, go to Websites, click Add website, choose WordPress, create your admin account, and click Install. There is no manual database setup and no FTP upload — the installer provisions the database, installs WordPress core, and hands you a working wp-admin login.
Before you start
You need two things before the installer will work properly. First, an active Hostinger hosting plan — any shared, WordPress, or cloud plan includes the Auto Installer. Second, a domain that is added to your hosting plan and pointing to Hostinger. If you claimed the free domain that comes with most Hostinger plans, it is usually connected automatically; we checked this flow in October 2026 and the domain was live on Hostinger’s nameservers within minutes of registration.
If your domain is registered somewhere else, point it to Hostinger first (see our guide to Hostinger WordPress hosting for the full setup order), or install WordPress on a temporary subdomain and move it later. The installer will still run, but visitors will not reach your site until DNS points at Hostinger.
How to install WordPress on Hostinger: the 1-click steps
These steps follow Hostinger’s own Help Center article on the Auto Installer (checked October 2026). Menu names below are Hostinger’s.
Step 1 — Open the Auto Installer
Log in to your Hostinger account and open hPanel. Go to Websites in the top navigation, then click Add website. On the setup screen, choose WordPress as the application. If you already have a website listed, open its Dashboard instead and pick Auto Installer from the left sidebar, then select WordPress.
Step 2 — Fill in your site details
The installer asks for four things:
- Website title — the name shown in the browser tab and on the site. You can change this later in WordPress settings.
- Administrator email — used for password resets and admin notifications. Use an address you actually check.
- Administrator username — Hostinger strongly recommends a unique username. Never use “admin”; it is the first username automated attacks try.
- Administrator password — create a strong password and save it in a password manager right away. This is the login attackers probe first.
You will also pick your preferred language. If you want WordPress in a subdirectory (for example, yourdomain.com/blog) or want to use an existing database, expand the Advanced section — most beginners should leave it alone.
Step 3 — Click Install and wait
Click Install. The installer creates the MySQL database, writes the configuration file, installs the latest WordPress core, and creates your admin account in one pass. This usually takes one to two minutes. When it finishes, you will see a success message with your site URL and the admin login link.
Step 4 — Log in to your WordPress dashboard
Go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin and sign in with the username and password you just created. That is the entire installation — there is nothing else to download, upload, or configure at the server level.
Preinstalled vs 1-click: what is the difference?
New Hostinger accounts often go through a guided onboarding that installs WordPress for you during signup — that is the “preinstalled” path, and if you took it, you can skip this tutorial entirely and go straight to your wp-admin. The 1-click Auto Installer is the same engine behind the scenes; you use it when you want a second WordPress site, when you skipped the onboarding, or when you are installing on a subdomain or an additional domain on your plan. Functionally the result is identical: a fresh WordPress install with its own database. The practical difference is only who clicks the button — Hostinger’s onboarding wizard, or you.
What happens right after the install
A lot happens automatically that used to be manual work:
- Database: a dedicated MySQL database and database user are created and linked to your site. You never see the credentials unless you dig for them in hPanel.
- Admin account: the username and password you chose become the site’s administrator with full rights.
- Admin URL: your dashboard lives at yourdomain.com/wp-admin (or yourdomain.com/blog/wp-admin for subdirectory installs).
- SSL: Hostinger provisions a free SSL certificate for the domain. Check it under hPanel → Security → SSL, and turn on Force HTTPS so every visitor gets the encrypted version.
- Backups: your plan’s automatic backups start covering the new install. Do not treat the install as disposable just because it was fast — back it up before experimenting.
The first 3 things to do after installing WordPress
1. Secure the basics: HTTPS, updates, and the sample content
Confirm the padlock shows in your browser, then in wp-admin go to Dashboard → Updates and apply any pending WordPress, theme, or plugin updates. Delete the sample post, sample page, and default comment WordPress ships with — they are the classic footprint of an unfinished site.
2. Set permalinks and your site identity
Go to Settings → Permalinks and choose Post name — it is the URL structure search engines and readers prefer. Then visit Settings → General to confirm your site title and tagline, and Appearance → Customize to set a site icon (favicon).
3. Add a theme and only the plugins you need
Pick one lightweight, actively maintained theme and ignore the rest — installing five themes “to try later” is how sites get slow and outdated. For plugins, start minimal: a caching plugin (LiteSpeed Cache pairs well with Hostinger’s servers), a backup plugin as a second safety net, and one SEO plugin. Every plugin you add is code running on every page load, so each one should earn its place.
Troubleshooting the install
“My domain is not pointing to Hostinger yet.” The installer may warn you or install to a temporary address. Point the domain’s nameservers to Hostinger (ns1.dns-parking.com and ns2.dns-parking.com), wait for propagation, and the site will resolve on its own — no reinstall needed.
“I want WordPress on a subdomain.” Create the subdomain first under hPanel → Domains → Subdomains, then run the Auto Installer and pick the subdomain from the domain dropdown in the Advanced section.
“I already installed WordPress manually once.” The Auto Installer will not overwrite an existing install in the same location; pick a different directory or remove the old files first.

FAQ
How long does it take to install WordPress on Hostinger?
About one to two minutes after you click Install. Filling in the form takes longer than the installation itself. If it has been more than ten minutes with no success message, check that your domain is added to the hosting plan and pointing to Hostinger.
Is WordPress free on Hostinger?
WordPress itself is free and open source — you pay for the hosting plan it runs on, not for WordPress. The Auto Installer, the database, and the SSL certificate are all included in Hostinger’s plans at no extra charge.
Can I install WordPress on more than one domain?
Yes, as long as your plan allows multiple websites. Each install gets its own database and admin login. Run the Auto Installer again and choose the other domain from the dropdown.
Do I need to create a database myself?
No. The Auto Installer creates the MySQL database and user automatically and writes the credentials into wp-config.php. Manual database creation is only needed if you install WordPress by hand over FTP, which almost nobody needs to do anymore.
What is the WordPress admin login URL?
Your domain followed by /wp-admin, for example yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Bookmark it — you will use it daily.
How long does it take to install WordPress on Hostinger?
The Auto Installer itself usually finishes in under a minute. Most of the time goes to filling in the setup form — site title, admin email, username, and password — so the whole process takes about five minutes end to end.
Do I need a domain before installing WordPress on Hostinger?
Yes, you need a domain attached to your hosting account before the installer can run — either one registered at Hostinger or an external domain pointed to Hostinger’s nameservers. If your domain is not ready yet, you can install on a temporary subdomain and move the site later.
Can I install WordPress on a subdomain in Hostinger?
Yes. First create the subdomain under Domains → Subdomains in hPanel, then open Websites → Auto Installer, select WordPress, and choose the subdomain from the domain dropdown before clicking Install. This is a common way to build a staging or test copy of a site.
What is the difference between preinstalled WordPress and the Auto Installer?
During Hostinger’s onboarding wizard you can have WordPress preinstalled automatically. The Auto Installer is the same tool run manually — use it any time you want a fresh install, a second site on another domain, or a WordPress install on a subdomain.
How do I log in to WordPress after installing it on Hostinger?
Go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin and sign in with the administrator username and password you chose during installation. You can also reach the dashboard from hPanel under WordPress → Overview via the “WordPress Admin” button, without typing the URL.
Next steps
With WordPress installed, the next decision is making sure you are on the right plan for what you are building — our Hostinger WordPress hosting guide breaks down managed WordPress features versus regular shared plans, and the web hosting comparison shows exactly what Premium and Business (now Unlimited) include. Install once, secure it properly, and you have a foundation that can grow from a first blog post to a full business site without moving hosts.
